  1. THE PARLIAMENTARY DAY

  4. There is no regulated timetable for the first half of the day 
  5. in Parliament. With the exception of Wednesdays, and
  6. fridays when sessions in the chamber begin at 9.30 am, 
  7. mornings are set aside for MPs to deal with all the 
  8. additional activities that go with their job. These include:
  9.  
  10. *    Attending Select and Standing Committee meetings.
  11. *    Attending to constituency business, and answering mail
  12.     from constituents.
  13. *    Individual meetings with the party Whips.
  14. *    Meeting visitors to the House, including lobbyists representing various     groups seeking to get their particular interests aired in the House.

  16. All MPs and Peers are given their own office at Parliament, and are paid
  17. expenses to employ their own researchers and assistants. Senior ministers are allocated offices in accordance with their rank, while the Whips have their own offices near the Members Lobby.
